Pattern Release: Mercury Messenger Bag

Both 2.jpg

Today is the release of my newest pattern, the Mercury Messenger Bag! I am so excited for this pattern. Like most of my patterns, this one is based off of an older design I made years ago. It went through significant changes however, and I am so pleased with the end results.

The Mercury Messenger Bag pattern is a unique and trendy take on the classic messenger bag! It comes in two sizes, small and large. The small size is perfect for a day-to-day purse. It has two compartments on the inside, which is perfect for me. I put my wallet (my Elite Crossbody Wallet) on one side and a couple of diapers and other items on the other. There are two outside pockets, two inner slip and elastic pockets, and the divider on the inside is a zipper pocket. The large size is made to fit laptops. The center divider pocket can also be made into a padded pocket to keep your laptop or tablet safe.

The pattern also has several accompanying videos linked in the instructions. I can’t wait to see your creations. Join my Facebook group or tag me (@toriskabags) on Instagram to show off the bags you make from the Mercury Messenger Bag pattern! (#mercurymessengerbag).

The pattern is on sale today through Monday, September 9.

And now, check out the beautiful bags that my testers made!

First off, I’ll start with the Small size. Here is a gorgeous bag by Cheryl Beason:

And this adorable version from Deann Hadley:

I love this version by Ira Diyanti. And she also included something on the back that I think you might like—she included rings to make it into a backpack! Several testers thought this would make a great little backpack, and I agree!

Kim Burch used this fun fabric, which really sets the mood for Halloween!

Lisa Ducourant used a really attractive neutral combination, which I love.

Michelle Wearsch also chose a really pretty neutral fabric combination, with a surprise of color on the inside.

I really like how Olga Martinez showcased her bright fabric panel on the flap and strap!

And the last Small bag is from Tan Puey Hoon, who always has amazing work! I love these fabrics.

And now for the large size! We’ll start with Brenna Smith. I love her fabrics!

Jeane-Marie Sharp also used some great fabric! So many testers used really fun prints.

Next is Kirsty Bucholz, with another really fun and striking fabric combination.

Maria Teresa Lucio always has gorgeous bags!

I’m a little in love with the fabrics Mariah Fair-Wall used!

Melissa Uhler also picked some really unique and fun fabric and I love how it turned out.

And last simply because I went alphabetically by last name, Sandie Larsen sewed this lovely red and black and white version. I love the color and fabric combination!

Here are a few words from my testers:

  • “The small messenger bag is a perfect fit for my tablet WITH the keyboard case, and a little more room for other necessities. I have found this bag is perfect to take along the necessities for when I am working or studying outside the home.”

  • “Beautiful design with a fancier messenger look thanks to the trim details! Lots of fun to customize!”

  • “I love the look of this bag. It's extremely versatile just in choosing your main fabric and contrasting fabric. There's even more versatility in the number of pockets you choose to include and which size you choose to make. I feel this pattern can easily be customized to create just about any look you desire.”

  • “This bag has so many options, and can hold a laptop! I love this pattern.”

I hope you feel inspired by their awesome work! Remember the introductory sale going on through Monday!
