Winter sewing projects
What a weird winter we’ve had in Delaware! We only had snow once and it barely dusted the ground. We had lots of 50 and 60 degree days. I think our state finally gave up on winter altogether because all the blossoms have started coming out even though it’s early March.
Looking back at my sewing so far this year, I actually haven’t spent much time on personal projects. I’ve been working very hard on two different sewing patterns. I did make some new clothes for my kids though back in January (when I thought they would need more cold weather items).
I also made myself some pants. I used stretch denim and the Mountain View pull on pants pattern from Itch to Stitch to make these. I’m pretty happy with them. I had to make some serious adjustments to get them to fit, but that’s my life making pants. My hips are a much larger size than my legs, apparently. The first row is my initial work, the second is after taking in the side seams, hemming, and adding the back pockets.
Remember Edward Tulane? I got to see him in action onstage! The actors did a phenomenal job and it felt like Edward really was a member of the cast!
I also have had some interesting handmade orders so far this year, including a couple giant versions of my Barrelette pattern.
Not sewing related, but my daughter and I went to Painting With a Twist and painted Baby Yoda (sorry, “The Child”) together. We had a lot of fun! I love painting but definitely need direction, so this was great.
I’ve been working hard on two different pattern and I’m very excited to release one this Friday, the Suburbanite Bag! Here are a couple of my test versions. I’m really excited about this pattern. It’s among my favorite patterns I’ve designed! My testers have produced amazing bags and I’m looking forward to showing them off on Friday.
