Some recent sewing projects

Time again to review some of my sewing projects recently. Apparently it’s been quite a few months since I checked in! Here are some kid clothes I made last year, most for my 5yo, but also some for my daughters.

I had some other projects too. A scripture bag for my nephew, a dog coat for my dog, a mitered blanket that I made for my son for Christmas and also used for a Sewing Summit, and a stuffed wolf for a gift that was so exasperating to sew but looks okay.

I’m going to skip my stocking season. It was fun and long and I introduced some new fabrics that did well. My supplier dissolved and I thankfully found a new one. It was a stressful few months!

Next I’ll show off what I have made this year. I haven’t done a lot of projects because most of my sewing has been working on a custom bag for a friend and then turning it into a pattern. I built my son’s winter wardrobe up a bit.

And here is the custom order and some other versions. My friend wanted a sporran-style satchel for wearing as a waist bag when she cycles. She really liked the final result! Hers is the green one with Celtic embroidery. The others are test versions or for my pattern.

In fact, I will be releasing this pattern later this month! It’s called the Scotia Satchel. I also am trying out a new-to-me sewing tool, a projector. I just got mine this week. It’s an Epson 475W Ultra Short Throw projector, and they are surprisingly affordable buying used on Ebay. I’m also buying a stand and will use that to mount and calibrate it. I hope this will be easier than cutting and taping PDF patterns. I’ve heard the calibration can be a beast though, so I am not looking forward to that, but once it’s complete, it will be very handy (hopefully!).
